Many things happened at Mount Sinai, but in this 4-part series of books entitled, The Ruach Ha’Kodesh, we will focus on Mt. Sinai and the Breath in book one. The “Breath” is the “Holy Spirit” or the “Ruach Ha’Kodesh.” What exactly happened at Mount Sinai some 3,300 years ago? Was it a myth, or was it an actual historical event?

By keeping our feet firmly on the ground and not taking leaps of “faith,” we will explore the many moving parts of the Ruach Ha’Kodesh. They fit neatly together, but it is not simple; we must follow each step and wait before offering a counterargument. Within this series, we have probably anticipated any questions that may arise about the “Ruach Ha’Kodesh.”

We will start at the beginning by looking at the Hebrew word for “Spirit,” and according to the Blue Letter Bible Dictionary, the word is “rûaḥ (roo'-akh)” (H7307), the term “breath” is the same word. We find in the Greek the term “pneuma (pnyoo'-mah)” (G4151), meaning a current of air, breath, blast, or breeze.

It also has an understanding of a “spirit,” Ghost, mind, or life. But what is this “Spirit” when we apply it to the masses at the foot of Mount Sinai? We could argue that all religions start when one or more people have an experience, and they share it with others who are willing to join in. However, what happens when “millions” of people, according to some estimates, are subjected to the same event?
